SAFETY BRIEFING.

  • Wear a helmet. Despite recent advances in medical science, brains still cannot be mended nor replaced.
  • Wear gloves or mitts. Hands often hit the ground first. Cuts and grazes invite infection and a hospital visit.
  • Wear eye protection, it only takes a twig or thorn to lose an eye. Crud catchers are a good idea in mucky weather.
  • When downhilling, for your own protection, allow plenty of space behind the rider in front.
  • Bring a bare minimum emergency tool kit and a spare inner tube.
  • Breakdowns are a bore. Plan not to have any by ensuring your bike is in perfect working order.
  • Punctures are also tedious. You can minimise them by fitting latex tubes, slime tubes or running tubeless tyres.
  • Don't ride too close to the person in front. If they crash into a badger, you'll need time to swerve.

2nd Nov - my last non-ride

As I will very soon be departing the flat lands of Cambridge for the hills of Yorkshire, I feel I should arrange a last night with CamMTB. In my current incapacitated condition, it will have to be a non-ride for me, but I fully expect the rest of you to put in the miles, in spite of my absence on two wheels.

As the runs list has not yet extended beyond the end of October, I'd like to propose the Green Man at Grantchester for Thursday 2nd November. I'll endeavour to meet you at Brookside to offer encouragement and moral support, then I'll bugger off to the pub and get a head start on the beer and snacks

Hope to see lots of you out to say goodbye, no excuses, you know you want to!

Cheers,

Richard

Re: 2nd Nov - my last non-ride

This sounds like a plan Rich! I will be about for once so will pop along.

Re: 2nd Nov - my last non-ride

Good plan rich. I'll be along, and may well find a shorter route between the start and the Gn Man

Re: 2nd Nov - my last non-ride

Hi Rich,
i would love to say i can do the ride, but that week i'm migrating a DataCentre in London and can't guarantee i will make it back in time for the ride...... but i will do my best to make it to the green man for last orders!

only for one drink though, as i need to be back on the train to London at 6:53am
:(

Adriano!

We'll be at Brookside for 7:30pm, then once everyone's set off, Katie and I will head to the Green Man to have dinner before the rabble arrives Is Tess coming along too?
