SAFETY BRIEFING.

  • Wear a helmet. Despite recent advances in medical science, brains still cannot be mended nor replaced.
  • Wear gloves or mitts. Hands often hit the ground first. Cuts and grazes invite infection and a hospital visit.
  • Wear eye protection, it only takes a twig or thorn to lose an eye. Crud catchers are a good idea in mucky weather.
  • When downhilling, for your own protection, allow plenty of space behind the rider in front.
  • Bring a bare minimum emergency tool kit and a spare inner tube.
  • Breakdowns are a bore. Plan not to have any by ensuring your bike is in perfect working order.
  • Punctures are also tedious. You can minimise them by fitting latex tubes, slime tubes or running tubeless tyres.
  • Don't ride too close to the person in front. If they crash into a badger, you'll need time to swerve.

Gallivant

A joke for the sophisticated individual

Two wind turbines are in a field, one asks the other "what is your favorite type of music?". The other replies "I am a big metal fan"

A nice wind energy related video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Bl7xl3IiAqE

Re: Gallivant

We liked this one at work, until some smartarse pointed out that wind turbines are not fans because they are not driven by a motor and, therefore, cannot cause the wind to blow.

In fact, and I don't know whether you knew this, but they are driven by the wind blowing and subsequently drive a generator.

The message was clearly that you should get your facts right if you are going to tell a joke.

A more accurate version might be: "Why did the wind machine follow the actor around the film set? Because it was a big fan."

My sides have split.

Re: Gallivant

Interesting critique fidel pastro. I agree that it is technically inaccurate, you could use "two air conditioners in an office" - but it is less visual.

Continuing on the eco-theme. How about....how can you help sequester carbon dioxide with your own hand? By growing a palm tree.............

Re: Gallivant

Better....

Re: Gallivant

file it with Midge Ure.....
