SAFETY BRIEFING.

  • Wear a helmet. Despite recent advances in medical science, brains still cannot be mended nor replaced.
  • Wear gloves or mitts. Hands often hit the ground first. Cuts and grazes invite infection and a hospital visit.
  • Wear eye protection, it only takes a twig or thorn to lose an eye. Crud catchers are a good idea in mucky weather.
  • When downhilling, for your own protection, allow plenty of space behind the rider in front.
  • Bring a bare minimum emergency tool kit and a spare inner tube.
  • Breakdowns are a bore. Plan not to have any by ensuring your bike is in perfect working order.
  • Punctures are also tedious. You can minimise them by fitting latex tubes, slime tubes or running tubeless tyres.

Xmas meal at the Castle Inn

For all those attending the Christmas meal - some info for you.

Despite several requests I only got a copy of the menu from the Castle last night so I am not going to suggest pre-ordering. It is just the normal food menu so not remotely festive. In order to get food in a sensible manner we need to be able to place the order for all people at the same time so we need to be ready to order by 7.30 at the latest. If you can get to the pub earlier you will find that they have beer which helps pass the time. I hope to be there about 7.00 but as I will be at a Christmas lunch in Lincolnshire earlier in the day I may be delayed.

When I made the booking I requested the room upstairs. We'll see...

The pub is the Castle Inn on Castle Hill, NOT the Castle Bar on St Andrews Street

Re: Xmas meal at the Castle Inn

Re: Xmas meal at the Castle Inn

Thanks Tony. See you there for 19:00 hrs.

I've just seen the weather forecast and decided against cycling in. So I'll get the bus in and hopefully a lift home. (If not it'll have to be a taxi  ).
