SAFETY BRIEFING.

  • Wear a helmet. Despite recent advances in medical science, brains still cannot be mended nor replaced.
  • Wear gloves or mitts. Hands often hit the ground first. Cuts and grazes invite infection and a hospital visit.
  • Wear eye protection, it only takes a twig or thorn to lose an eye. Crud catchers are a good idea in mucky weather.
  • When downhilling, for your own protection, allow plenty of space behind the rider in front.
  • Bring a bare minimum emergency tool kit and a spare inner tube.
  • Breakdowns are a bore. Plan not to have any by ensuring your bike is in perfect working order.
  • Punctures are also tedious. You can minimise them by fitting latex tubes, slime tubes or running tubeless tyres.
  • Don't ride too close to the person in front. If they crash into a badger, you'll need time to swerve.

Three Horseshoes, Stapleford - 8th Feb

Hi,

I should be out tonight but am under the physio's orders tonight so I won't be riding off-road (much) and I expect to be at the pub a bit earlier than usual.

If that's nirvana for you then please join me, but if you like it harder and longer then I shall see you at the start and the end.

PT

Re: Three Horseshoes, Stapleford - 8th Feb

unfortunately i'm on call again this week so no can do.

Re: Three Horseshoes, Stapleford - 8th Feb

I had sincerely hoped to join this evening but have picked up a bug and the prospect of riding around on a cold night isn't that attractive, plus it would undermine my ability to use said bug as an excuse to get out of some household activities that are being imposed upon me. I am hoping to be out next week, especially as thursday is a rare northern ride (wooooooo)! However, i am meant to be in Paris the following day so I may not be able to exploit the home field advantage :disappointed_relieved:

Would be up for a ride on Sunday if anyone has any plans? Get some Fendango training in?

Can do Sunday, will contact you direct.
