SAFETY BRIEFING.

  • Wear a helmet. Despite recent advances in medical science, brains still cannot be mended nor replaced.
  • Wear gloves or mitts. Hands often hit the ground first. Cuts and grazes invite infection and a hospital visit.
  • Wear eye protection, it only takes a twig or thorn to lose an eye. Crud catchers are a good idea in mucky weather.
  • When downhilling, for your own protection, allow plenty of space behind the rider in front.
  • Bring a bare minimum emergency tool kit and a spare inner tube.
  • Breakdowns are a bore. Plan not to have any by ensuring your bike is in perfect working order.
  • Punctures are also tedious. You can minimise them by fitting latex tubes, slime tubes or running tubeless tyres.

Tooonite - The George at Babraham

Anyone out tonight? Should be reasonable weather.

Maybe it doesn't quite compete with the length of recent return rides (Dullingham - 14 miles!), but The George is still a reasonable haul home.

Re: Tooonite - The George at Babraham

No delayed flights today or flat tyres so yes should be riding this evening...

Re: Tooonite - The George at Babraham

Unfortunately not.
R is in Italy and the Goose is playing in three bands at a school concert this evening.
Going for a two hour spin now....with me best mate:white_frowning_face:

Must be about 13 miles return for me, but I'm game for it, having just fitted summer tyres. Catch you later

Re: Tooonite - The George at Babraham

Phew!! A solid 43.75 miles for me, with 13.9 miles back from the hostelry. To get on to Rowley Lane I had to go right back to Babraham High Street. The route suggested for me was barred with a newly installed electric gate and padlocked side gate. I guess by the time I had done that, you guys had cleared the woods and were well ahead of me. Or that you are still trying to find your way out of the woods, as has happened in the past....
