SAFETY BRIEFING.

  • Wear a helmet. Despite recent advances in medical science, brains still cannot be mended nor replaced.
  • Wear gloves or mitts. Hands often hit the ground first. Cuts and grazes invite infection and a hospital visit.
  • Wear eye protection, it only takes a twig or thorn to lose an eye. Crud catchers are a good idea in mucky weather.
  • When downhilling, for your own protection, allow plenty of space behind the rider in front.
  • Bring a bare minimum emergency tool kit and a spare inner tube.
  • Breakdowns are a bore. Plan not to have any by ensuring your bike is in perfect working order.
  • Punctures are also tedious. You can minimise them by fitting latex tubes, slime tubes or running tubeless tyres.

Re: It Ain't Over 'til It's Over

Hi Tom,

I'm afraid I cannot do the ride this year - am shovelling gravel (only two more 0.5 cubic metre bags to empty...) and even if I get half of one bag done, I'll be far too knackered to ride a bike.

Hope there is a decent turnout - at least there is no game of national importance tonight, as far as I know.

Re: It Ain't Over 'til It's Over

I feel your pain Pete T. I had to shovel six 0.5 m3 bags of aggregate to use as foundations for the extension at Fenduro HQ. I ordered mine from Madingley Mulch as I quite like the green bags. In the end I over ordered by 1.5 m3 so have been shawshanking a load to various places and am saving some for a future project.

Re: It Ain't Over 'til It's Over

Hi FC, thanks for your sympathy - I was lucky to get a lad in to help this evening, and we got it done by 21:00. Any way, yes we got the gravel from Madingly Mulch, delivered free, and so much cheaper than those internet sharks. I too like the green bags!
