SAFETY BRIEFING.

  • Wear a helmet. Despite recent advances in medical science, brains still cannot be mended nor replaced.
  • Wear gloves or mitts. Hands often hit the ground first. Cuts and grazes invite infection and a hospital visit.
  • Wear eye protection, it only takes a twig or thorn to lose an eye. Crud catchers are a good idea in mucky weather.
  • When downhilling, for your own protection, allow plenty of space behind the rider in front.
  • Bring a bare minimum emergency tool kit and a spare inner tube.
  • Breakdowns are a bore. Plan not to have any by ensuring your bike is in perfect working order.
  • Punctures are also tedious. You can minimise them by fitting latex tubes, slime tubes or running tubeless tyres.

Absolute newbie looking to ride

Hi there peeps,

Have just recently bought my first MTB since my teens and was wondering if I could join you fine people tomorrow evening? Will there be anyone around and what does Cambridge to Abington entail?
Many thanks

Dan

Re: Absolute newbie looking to ride

Hi Dan,

I'll be riding tonight. I'll be at the meeting point (on the corner of Brookside and Lensfield Road) at about 7:30 pm so will see you there.

Don't forget your lights!

Re: Absolute newbie looking to ride

for some ridiculous reason I woke up at 0645 and was uncomfortable but unable to get back to sleep :/ Apart from that I actually feel ok, much fun was had last night, even if I was the worse for wear towards the end. Can I say thank you for taking me out, I know I held you up a bit but I thoroughly enjoyed myself! Will be coming back in 2 week for sure :)
