SAFETY BRIEFING.

  • Wear a helmet. Despite recent advances in medical science, brains still cannot be mended nor replaced.
  • Wear gloves or mitts. Hands often hit the ground first. Cuts and grazes invite infection and a hospital visit.
  • Wear eye protection, it only takes a twig or thorn to lose an eye. Crud catchers are a good idea in mucky weather.
  • When downhilling, for your own protection, allow plenty of space behind the rider in front.
  • Bring a bare minimum emergency tool kit and a spare inner tube.
  • Breakdowns are a bore. Plan not to have any by ensuring your bike is in perfect working order.
  • Punctures are also tedious. You can minimise them by fitting latex tubes, slime tubes or running tubeless tyres.

Pear tree rather than George tonight?

Anyone else fancy trying out the reopened Pear Tree in Hildersham tonight?

Re: Pear tree rather than George tonight?

Yes, let's give it a go. Maybe a wet ride, on and off, tonight so we can Christen the pub with muddy footmarks.

Do you think that coin will still be glued to the floor there?

Re: Pear tree rather than George tonight?

I'll be out - I was going to propose the Plough in Shepreth instead of the George. It's probably not a convenient alternative if they chuck us out of the Pear Tree

Re: Pear tree rather than George tonight?

The Pear Tree's website says that it is a chic, boutique styled Artisan country Inn. It mentions a cozy 23 seat dining experience, but not beer. And it closes at 10.00.
So Tony's suggestion of Shepreth sounds a better bet?

Re: Pear tree rather than George tonight?

I'll be out. You boys work out the logistics.

Re: Pear tree rather than George tonight?

I'll be out - and on 27.5+ wheels in a virginal way, so who knows how they'll perform.

I know that with 3" tyres, there's not much clearence on the back, so hopefully this new raid thing doesn't turn the world into a quagmire.

I too was worried that the George in Babraham was a ball-ache of a ride by home( as would be the Pear ), so i'm up for something nearer town (well Comberton actually, but hey)
