But my reason is there is probably a better range of tyre choice on 29" compared to 27.7".

And they roll a bit better.

But if the option exists on the bike you want, and the budget will stretch, go for the Boost wheels as they are a bit stiffer and you get better mud clerance.

should be fine around here, but it does limit you options for going further afield like the Peaks or Wales.

my old/standby bike has a Fox F120 on it and that was all i used for 8 years, it did bottom out on a couple of occasions, but i'm quite heavy and i don't take it easy on the trails.

as i suggest of you can get the boost wheels that means you can possibly use higher volume tyres like 2.5" and bigger and that will help with the damping.

Well I have brought a bike, managed to get a used bike for a decent price that's been ridden a handful of times since new.

Now I just need some lights. Any recommendations for a good front light that's under £100??
