SAFETY BRIEFING.

  • Wear a helmet. Despite recent advances in medical science, brains still cannot be mended nor replaced.
  • Wear gloves or mitts. Hands often hit the ground first. Cuts and grazes invite infection and a hospital visit.
  • Wear eye protection, it only takes a twig or thorn to lose an eye. Crud catchers are a good idea in mucky weather.
  • When downhilling, for your own protection, allow plenty of space behind the rider in front.
  • Bring a bare minimum emergency tool kit and a spare inner tube.
  • Breakdowns are a bore. Plan not to have any by ensuring your bike is in perfect working order.
  • Punctures are also tedious. You can minimise them by fitting latex tubes, slime tubes or running tubeless tyres.

Re: Reach - Dyke's End

Hoping to join you folks

Re: Reach - Dyke's End

Having to miss this one, and join some ex colleagues in the Eagle for a light ale and a bite to eat. Might see you lot as I cycle past the start on my way there.

Re: Reach - Dyke's End

Garrr!

Can't believe I missed this one - was working late anyhow but could have joined at the pub :-(. Hoping to get out in August!

Re: Reach - Dyke's End

Missed a good one and a great pub!

Re: Reach - Dyke's End

Hi Bart - what happened to you?

Re: Reach - Dyke's End

When you said straight on I assumed you meant straight on down the main road, not turning left on to a side road!

Hope you made it back OK and in reasonable time.

Re: Reach - Dyke's End

Only see this now - thanks for the concern.
Found my way home OK, although post-pub I try to be too creative for my own good in finding off road routes home. I did find a nice route initially, although I did spend a lot of time cycling circles in Cherry Hinton trying to find a cyclepath cut-through (unsuccessfully).
