SAFETY BRIEFING.

  • Wear a helmet. Despite recent advances in medical science, brains still cannot be mended nor replaced.
  • Wear gloves or mitts. Hands often hit the ground first. Cuts and grazes invite infection and a hospital visit.
  • Wear eye protection, it only takes a twig or thorn to lose an eye. Crud catchers are a good idea in mucky weather.
  • When downhilling, for your own protection, allow plenty of space behind the rider in front.
  • Bring a bare minimum emergency tool kit and a spare inner tube.
  • Breakdowns are a bore. Plan not to have any by ensuring your bike is in perfect working order.
  • Punctures are also tedious. You can minimise them by fitting latex tubes, slime tubes or running tubeless tyres.

Moustaches and exact change not required

The Red House has changed somewhat since we were last there. Anyone out for a ginger beer?

Re: Moustaches and exact change not required

I aiming to be out, if only to test whether my new waterproof really is all that.

Given that heavy rain is forecast from about 9 pm, should we aim for a pub closer to Cambridge rather than one that's so far out?

Also, we can ask Peter just how good it was as he visited yesterday for lunch. The trip will gain him a CAMMTB Awards nomination for an event on his way home. I'm going to call it the "Beer Makes Me a Better Stunt Rider" Award.

Re: Moustaches and exact change not required

I've got new parents evening at CVC this evening (#1 son moves to secondary school next year). Unlikely that i'll be out, but if the pub is near....

Re: Moustaches and exact change not required

I intend to make a guest appearance tonight.

Re: Moustaches and exact change not required

Not out tonight as meeting with our accountant. But I can tell you that they do take change now, but I'm not sure how well muddy mountain bikers will go down in the limited and slightly posh bar area. However, Comberton's 3 Horseshoes is now in the latest Good Beer Guide. Adnams Lighthouse, GK IPA, and three changing beers. Would fit Normans timing too.

Re: Moustaches and exact change not required

I'll be out - with umbrella?

Re: Moustaches and exact change not required

Hope to make a guest appearance as well this evening

Have a fun evening
