  • Wear a helmet. Despite recent advances in medical science, brains still cannot be mended nor replaced.
  • Wear gloves or mitts. Hands often hit the ground first. Cuts and grazes invite infection and a hospital visit.
  • Wear eye protection, it only takes a twig or thorn to lose an eye. Crud catchers are a good idea in mucky weather.
  • When downhilling, for your own protection, allow plenty of space behind the rider in front.
  • Bring a bare minimum emergency tool kit and a spare inner tube.
  • Breakdowns are a bore. Plan not to have any by ensuring your bike is in perfect working order.
  • Punctures are also tedious. You can minimise them by fitting latex tubes, slime tubes or running tubeless tyres.

Can't make it out tonight, possibly in few weeks
Watch out for the new safety barriers if you are heading over to addenbrookes (out to the roman road)
they have put some in on the cyclepath from the bussway when it crosses the first road into addenbrookes. Apparently they are lethal and invisible.

Re: Hare and Hounds Harlton anyone?

I was intending to be out tonight, but the updated weather forecast is for heavy rain all evening. And cold at 5-6C to boot.

I may give it a miss.

Re: Hare and Hounds Harlton anyone?

ok, after seeing Tom's weather update i'm going to be a maybe tonight.

if it's raining hard and like it is in for the whole night i will give it a miss.
if it is only light rain and may clear i will be out.

so expect me if you see me. ;)

Re: Hare and Hounds Harlton anyone?

Hmm, i'd not seen the most recent weather update.

Unless it changes very radically in the next few hours, I too shall remain firmly at home.

Re: Hare and Hounds Harlton anyone?

I’m also going to play it by ear...
