DISCLAIMER. MOUNTAIN BIKING CAN BE DANGEROUS. YOU JOIN US AT YOUR OWN RISK.

SAFETY BRIEFING.

  • Wear a helmet. Despite recent advances in medical science, brains still cannot be mended nor replaced.
  • Wear gloves or mitts. Hands often hit the ground first. Cuts and grazes invite infection and a hospital visit.
  • Wear eye protection, it only takes a twig or thorn to lose an eye. Crud catchers are a good idea in mucky weather.
  • When downhilling, for your own protection, allow plenty of space behind the rider in front.
  • Bring a bare minimum emergency tool kit and a spare inner tube.
  • Breakdowns are a bore. Plan not to have any by ensuring your bike is in perfect working order.
  • Punctures are also tedious. You can minimise them by fitting latex tubes, slime tubes or running tubeless tyres.

***** NEW COVID-19 RULES FOR CAMMTB RIDES****

Hi All,

Since the Rule of Six came into force, we have been complying by default as only 6 riders have turned up!

That's changed recently as more than six have either indicated that they will ride, have ridden or turned up to the pub.

Under these circumstances we will continue to respond in the manner that we have already started:- split into two groups when riding, socially distance as per the guidelines and remain as two groups in the pub.

Now, if more than 12 turn up, we will have to get our calculators out....

Or we could all go grouse shooting.

Re: ***** NEW COVID-19 RULES FOR CAMMTB RIDES**** UPDATE

Some further guidance/clarifications:-

1. If you have symptoms consistent with COVID-19 or have been asked to self-isolate, you must not ride;
2. When you arrive at the meeting point in Brookside, please observe social distancing guidelines. If more than 6 riders are present, please divide into additional groups to ensure that the Rule of Six is observed;
3. We will ride in groups of a maximum of six persons;
4. Please keep in the same groups at the pub and on the way home;
5. If you subsequently develop symptoms of COVID-19 please tell the other members of your group without delay.

Re: ***** NEW COVID-19 RULES FOR CAMMTB RIDES**** LOCKDOWN #3 UPDATE

Hi All,

We are only permitted to ride in pairs or households currently so normal group riding is suspended.

It's up to the riders to communicate to pair up. While the guidance says that it's OK to travel a short distance to exercise but best to stay local, the law is not so specific. Best to stay safe, however you do it.
