SAFETY BRIEFING.

  • Wear a helmet. Despite recent advances in medical science, brains still cannot be mended nor replaced.
  • Wear gloves or mitts. Hands often hit the ground first. Cuts and grazes invite infection and a hospital visit.
  • Wear eye protection, it only takes a twig or thorn to lose an eye. Crud catchers are a good idea in mucky weather.
  • When downhilling, for your own protection, allow plenty of space behind the rider in front.
  • Bring a bare minimum emergency tool kit and a spare inner tube.
  • Breakdowns are a bore. Plan not to have any by ensuring your bike is in perfect working order.
  • Punctures are also tedious. You can minimise them by fitting latex tubes, slime tubes or running tubeless tyres.

Summer Runslist

Hi All,

'Socialising' the Winter Runslist seemed to go well so I'm proposing a similar approach for the Summer one.

Please can you each propose two pubs for us to visit this summer? Doesn't matter if you overlap with each other. If you have a ride in mind - epic or otherwise - post that too. And if you have a date in mind please say so, otherwise I will randomise the dates.

Please ensure that the pub is actually going to be open!! If you propose a pub, it's your responsibility.

Lastly, please post that here, on the Forum, not in some side message, else I won't include it.

My starter for ten is Over Community Centre, 29th June and White Swan, Conington.

Re: Summer Runslist

How about Grantchester for Thursday 6th April - could try the Green Man if we can actually make it there on time - or Blue Ball or Red Lion or other coloured artefact of choice.

I have an early start to drive to Edinburgh on Friday so quite fancy a close to home finish.

Re: Summer Runslist

I've put the Green Man, Grantchester as this Thursday's pub and we can always sub-in another of the 3 pubs in the village if it all goes wrong.

More details of the runslist to follow, hopefully tonight.

Going out Tuesday? I declare tonight's destination to be..... The Plough at Coton.
