Eclipso ends Nelson's reign as champion

Eclipso ends Nelson's reign as champion
After many signature moves like the cobra clutch, iron claw, and even Johnny Weaver's sleeper hold, "The Legendary" Eclipso reclaimed Universal heavyweight title from Sgt. Jim Nelson in controversial fashion at the second annual "Night of Legends" American Championship Wrestling (ACW) card, held at the Rocky Mount National Guard Armory Saturday night.
In a title match that saw the advantage go back and forth, Eclipso finally got the pin with help from the newly formed "Unholy Alliance" consisting of Eclipso, Ken Steele, and manager Douglas J Wentworth III.
The big question of the night was if Eclipso would even get a title shot. The ACW commissioner had denied him a championship opportunity for more than year due to a stipulation in the match where he originally lost the title.Eclipso had said he would make Nelson beg him to set up the match and their encounter would come true later in the evening.
The night was a celebration for the late Johnny Weaver, who made his last appearance in a professional wrestling ring at the first "Night of Legends' last November.Weaver had ended that night by applying his world- famous sleeper hold on Eclipso, which left him lying in the middle of the ring.
Weaver's daughter, Wendy, was on hand to present an authentic ring jacket to We Care of Franklin County, charity sponsor for ACW events, to raffle off for a fundraiser.During a presentation to Weaver for her generosity, Eclipso and Wentworth hijacked the jacket and an enraged Nelson said he did not care what the commissioner said; Eclipso would get his title shot.
A furious Nelson charged the ring and proceeded to slap a Weaver sleeper hold on Eclipso. The match went back and forth when the Unholy Alliance charged the ring. Steele who was on his way to pound Nelson was met by Col. Spud Wade, who was at ringside to watch over Nelson. The match continued and Eclipso applied his iron claw on Nelson.Nelson dazed by the move eventually escaped and put his signature move, the Cobra Clutch, on Eclipso. The Alliance once again tried to enter the ring but referee Ric Petty stopped the advancement.Eclipso and Nelson both collapsed from the damage from their moves, but Eclipso landed against the ropes. For an unknown reason, Wade pushed Eclipso from the ropes and he landed on Nelson getting the pin fall win.
The Alliance celebrated as Mr. Jamie Wright entered the ring from the dressing room to watch over the fallen Nelson.Eclipso and company exited the ring with both the ACW championship and Weaver's jacket.
The celebration continued on the house microphone as Eclipso and Wentworth belittled both the crowd and Nelson. Then, Wright delivered a challenge of his own.
"The jacket is not yours and it is not leaving Rocky Mount," Wright proclaimed."Are you talking about some type of match?" asked Wentworth.Eclipso grabbed the microphone and said "Hey, I put up 1,000 silver dollars when I wrestle. We have the belt, the jacket, what do you have to put up?".
"Now you know I do not have $1,000 dollars," Wright said as Eclipso and Wentworth laughed at the rookie.
At that moment, We Care representative Jerry Greer walked to the ring."Hey Eclipso, We Care has 1,000 dollars." A shocked Unholy Alliance walked away with both the championship belt and the Weaver jacket in their possession as the crowd and Wright celebrated the fact that he has the opportunity to get the Weaver jacket back from the new champ next month.

"American Made" Scott Weddle and Foxy Roxy defeated "Dirty Deeds" Robbie Lynn and Eddie Loco when Loco was counted out of the ring.Weddle hit Loco with Loco's own loaded boot which Weddle stole at last month's event. The victory was bitter sweet since the belts cannot change hands on a count out.
"Wade defeated Franklin County's own Hillbilly Helbert by disqualification. For some reason, Eclipso and Steele interfered by entering the ring and breaking up a pin attempt by Wade. The two continued to pound on Wade until Helbert came to his senses and fought off the attackers.Since it was a disqualification, Helbert retained the television belt.
Jeff (Big Yella) Holland defeated Eclipso in a Taped Fist Match.Originally, Rolling Thunder was slated to be Holland's opponent, but Thunder announced his retirement due to health reasons before the match.Eclipso took up the challenge and used a foreign object to knock Holland out.The referee originally gave the match to Eclipso, but Thunder who was watching at ringside, pointed out the object to the referee who swiftly reversed his decision.
Wright defeated Robbie Lynn by pin fall with an assist by Scott Weddle. The referee became distracted by Lynn's partner, Loco, who was at ringside giving Weddle a chance to come to the ring and deliver a kick with the loaded boot.A knocked out Lynn was easily pinned by Wright.
"Ken Steele and Scott Lee defeated Ace England and Damien James by pin fall.
