Tag teams take top billing

Pro wrestling returns to National Guard Armory Saturday night
Saturday, May 9, 2009

By ANDY FLORA - Special to The Frankin News-Post

American Championship Wrestling (ACW), sponsored by We Care of Franklin Country, returns to the Rocky Mount National Guard Armory Saturday, May 9th with a special, six-man tag team main event.

Bell time is 8:15 p.m.

The trio of Col. Spud Wade, Ken Steel, and ACW Universal heavyweight champion "The Legendary Eclipso", managed by Douglas J. Wentworth Esq., will take on the threesom of ACW Television champion Hillbilly Helbert and ACW Universal tag-team titleholders Scott Weddle and Foxy Roxy.
The all-star team will be accompanied to ringside by ACW legend Rolling Thunder. If Rolling Thunder's team gets the win, Thunder gets five minutes in the ring with Douglas J. Wentworth to settle past indiscretions between the two.
Wentworth was tricked into eating dog food after winning a dog food vs. dress match against Foxy Roxy at the March show. Eclipso and Steel got revenge on behalf of Wentworth when Roxy was attacked at last month's event and made to eat dog food.

"I can't wait to get my hands on that tooth pick of a manager. If he knows what's good for him, he will not show up like last month," Thunder said in a recent interview.

"Another interesting match up will be between Sgt. Jim Nelson and a "Mystery Wrestler" in a 10,000 bounty match.
Last month this masked mystery wrestler interfered in the boot camp match between Wade and Nelson.Wade has posted a $10,000 bounty on Nelson and the masked man hopes to collect.

"In a demand tag-team match, former tag-team champions Dirty Deeds will take on home-town favorites Jamie Wright and Big Yella. Wright, who had his chance to win the Universal heavyweight crown last month, said he is looking forward to tagging again with Yella to deliver some punishment to Dirty Deeds, which seem to be interfering in everyone's matches as of late.

Also scheduled to appear are Scott Lee, Ace England, Damien James, and others.

Advanced tickets are on sale at Pizza King, Jones Produce, and now Misty Mountain Wares for $6.

Ticket prices the night of the event are $8.for adults, youth 12 and younger $6 and pre-school children are free.
