Just been trawling through Roualt's excellent site once again and watched the brilliant acoustic version of Ritz. Just Steve and his guitar, a violin and a tiny amount of percussion. Why does this sound (to me at least) better than the Birmingham version with the choir,orchestra,full band etc?? It shouldn't, but I think it has so much more feeling,atmosphere,passion than Birmingham. A big bonus as well is that Steve hardly forgets a lyric.Every last beautiful word of Ritz is remembered. As it should be!
Paul.I always loved that Ritz acoustic version but then again the Birmingham version is just as good.A good song can stand any treatment plugged unplugged or whatever and Ritz is the proof!! to my ears anyway.
