I have been writing a historic novel based on the stories my Dad (Bill Atherton) told me of his time in the British Army from 1942 to 46. He was involved in the invasion of Europe and then posted to Palestine. Feedback on my initial drafts from Lancaster University, where I took my MA in Creative Writing suggested that his time in Palestine was far the most interesting to a modern audience.

I have finally sent it off to the publishers and it will be available from 28th May 2023. I'd love to think it was of interest to soldiers who were there with him
