Hello Mongiello's and Mart,

I've just returned from Italy, where I spent a week in a few amazing places. I and my father, stayed in Solofra with cousins of mine for the 1st 4 dayd of the week(Francesco and Anna Gentilucci) They were absotlutely beutiful people and treated us like royalty. Anna cooked everey moment we were there and it was the best authentic Italian food I've yet to taste. She is a true talent. Franco was our personal escort to anything or place that needed be. Franco was a 6'4 teddy bear with a heart of gold, who I miss already. We were in a town that is surrounded by mountains, so high that every peak was covered in clouds. It was majestic expirience looking out a balcony every mourning to this site. My father made major headway in geneology at the local church and courthouse. We also tracked down some original Mongiello descendents' houses in Solofra(I took many many pics!) I had 2 beautiful cousins close to my age there to keep me companyand help with my Italian, Chinsa and Paula. My cousin Nicola was hard at work in highschool, but I got to spend time with him as well...a smart kid who's going places. So Thursday, after we said our teary goodbyes, we went off to Roma for the last 2 days of our week long stay.(BTW be careful if you drive in Italy...they don't believe in following the lines LOL) The time spent in Rome was too rushed, due to it being the business end of the trip for me. I had a short amount of time to get alot of pics for my boss. But at every turn I was overwealmed by Rome's allure, architectures and ancient treasures. I had time to stop at a cafe and enjoy an espresso,(and buy an espresso machine LOL) and a tuna sandwich. Then the next day, it was back to Philadelphia. It felt great to be home, yet I truely felt seperated from new friends, family, and my 2nd home. Paula and I promised to be friends for ever no matter how far away we were. And I will always remember the wonderful trip

Mart let me know where to send you some pics of the trip for you to see and post for all to enjoy.

Hi Marti,

looking through the mail below and the addition of the following "(1871) Salvatore Mongiello is born and stays in Italy his entire life. "

I believe this to be my Grandfather he was born around that time in Cassano Irpino(AV) he had two children Vicenzo and another (can't remember need to ask my father)in his first marriage and another two in his second marriage(Salvatore and Guiseppe_my father) both of his second marriage son's were born when he was in his late sixties early seventies.

My grandfather did emigrate for a short while to the states but came back and died in Cassano in the Nineteen forties.

My father emigrated to England in 1957/8 and worked on a farm in Cambridgeshire, had two Children Salvatore(me)1959 and Sandra 1967 who has since herself emigrated to Norfolk(West Virginia)

I myself have had two children Kelly 1982 and Ricky 1984.

I currently work for Nokia Telecommunications as a Project Manager amd travel extensivelly around europe.

Re: Mongiello information needed

Dear Mr Mongiello,
I've seen your researche on your web site. I live in Sant'Agata Irpina and my grandfather's name is Nicola Mongiello and the grandfa of my grandfa was Nicola Mongiello died in 1938 born maybe in 1879. The brothers of my grandfather are Nicola and Luigi (died in childwood), Caterina (1935), Luigi (1942) and Francesco (1947). I'll do researche in Comune of Solofra to undestand if we are relatives.

Re: Mongiello information needed

Hello,

My name is Marco Guarino. My father married Virginia Mongiello from Cassano, Irpino. My grandfather's name was Enrico Mongiello. He stayed in Cassano all his life. I believe he was born in the early 1900s'. He passed away a few years ago. My grandparents had 5 children,.......twins Anna & Filomena, Tetta, Pasqualino & Virginia ( all still living ). My Aunt Anna lives in Montella and cares for my grandmother ( nee Luiga Vecchia ), my Uncle and Aunt Tetta reside by Lake Como and my mother and Aunt Filomena live in Montreal. If you want to know more about Cassano, I have pasted the site.http://groups.msn.com/CassanoIrpino/cassanoirpinonelmondo.msnw
It's a great site to visit. As for me, I live in Gatineau, Quebec. It's situated 2 hours west of Montreal and just steps away from Ottawa. I used to run & operate 2 italian restaurants in Ottawa. I gave up all that to work at the Emergency at The Ottawa Hospital & do research work for Emerge physicians.
Martin & Mike, I hope all this info was somewhat helpful, and I wish you all great success.

Marco Guarino

Re: Mongiello information needed

Greetings my fellow Mongiello family members. I am looking for my Mother, and Father, and my three elder sisters and brothers. I was born in Cincinnati Ohio to Ruth Helen Mongiello, born in Penn., and Melvin Roy Tobias, born in Indiana. My birth date is October 8, 1952. At the time of my birth Ruth, and Melvin had three other children. Ruth was 27 years of age, and Melvin was 26 years of age at the time of my birth. I was adopted from the Cincinnati Childrens Home in December of 1952. I would love to know of my Mongiello family members, brothers, sisters, etc. If anyone has any information would love to know my place on the Mongiello Family Tree. My e-mail address is ptt_hlt@yahoo.com. Or you may call me at 954-360-0436. I am glad, and proud of this website, and proud to be a member of such a large, and wonderfull family!

Re: Mongiello information needed

This entire web site is phenomenal! My grandmother was a Mongiello, and my great grandparents were Pasquale and Theresa Mongiello (nee DiMaio) This is so wonderful to be able to find more Mongiello's, since I've been working on our family tree. I have to tell you, this has mine beat! It's amazing that our family is worldwide. I wish I could meet each and everyone of you.

My mother,Ruth Mongiello married Roy Tobias. Ruth and her family were from the Scranton Penn. area. I am Ruths fourth child, and she gave birth to two girls after me. I would love to meet my sisters, and cousins. My date of birth is October, 8 1952. I was born in Cincinnati Ohio. Ruth, and Roy Tobias gave me up for adoption, and I was adopted from the Cincinnati Childrens Home at the age of six months. I have reason to believe my parents lived in Kentucky. If any of the Mongiello family can give me any information I would love it. What an honor to know my roots in the great Mongiello Family. Still searching. Ruth was one of nine children, so that family tree has many branches.
