Re: Medical care costs for native Gambians.

Yes. Fads is quite correct. Although bear in mind. The cost for babies is free. Children vary between 1 - 2 dalasis - adults are 5 dalasis. BUT if they don't have the drugs in the clinic they give you a prescription - and then it may be 50 or a little more dalasis at the pharmacy. I recently paid for a little girl to have a tooth extracted. Cost was 1 dalasis for the 'ticket' and 50 dalasis for the extraction. Also don't forget the cost of getting to Tallinding or wherever. As a comparison, I also paid for a European at the local Bijilo clinic (German) - blood poisoning - malaria - an overnight stay with a drip - cost was still under 1,000 dalasis.

Re: Medical care costs for native Gambians.

Thanks - it's the 'hidden' costs that can make all the difference!
72 hours to go before I'm there again!!!
Best wishes to all,
