On Thursday, June 18, 2026, New Orleans faced heavy rains, flooding risks, and high winds from the remnants of Tropical Storm Arthur, which had weakened to a post-tropical system after making landfall in Texas WWL-TV+1.
Weather Conditions
Rainfall: The Northshore and metro area could see 2–5 inches of rain, with localized totals up to 10 inches where slow-moving rain bands lingered WDSU+1.
Flooding: The highest flood risk spanned from Baton Rouge through New Orleans and the Northshore, with parts of South Mississippi also at risk WWL-TV. A Level 4 flood threat was in effect through Thursday morning WWL-TV.
Winds: Gusty winds were expected, especially near the coast, with potential for isolated tornadoes in parts of southeast Louisiana WDSU+1.
Tornado Watch: In effect for parts of Terrebonne and Lafourche parishes until 6 a.m. WWL-TV
