DISCLAIMER. MOUNTAIN BIKING CAN BE DANGEROUS. YOU JOIN US AT YOUR OWN RISK.

SAFETY BRIEFING.

  • Wear a helmet. Despite recent advances in medical science, brains still cannot be mended nor replaced.
  • Wear gloves or mitts. Hands often hit the ground first. Cuts and grazes invite infection and a hospital visit.
  • Wear eye protection, it only takes a twig or thorn to lose an eye. Crud catchers are a good idea in mucky weather.
  • When downhilling, for your own protection, allow plenty of space behind the rider in front.
  • Bring a bare minimum emergency tool kit and a spare inner tube.
  • Breakdowns are a bore. Plan not to have any by ensuring your bike is in perfect working order.
  • Punctures are also tedious. You can minimise them by fitting latex tubes, slime tubes or running tubeless tyres.

Shameless Plug for sponsorship

Hi guys,
As I am sure you are all aware/sick of hearing, I and a colleague from work are going to attempt to cycle from Land’s End to John O’Groats, in 6 days, in mid July starting on Sunday 11th and intending to finish on Friday 16th.

Well here it is then, a shameless plug for sponsorship, in aid of the Arthur Rank Hospice on Mill Road.

I won’t labour on too much about it as I have done that already, but if anyone is inclined to part with a few of their hard earned beer tokens it would be much appreciated.

the just giving site we are running is:-

Many thanks

Pat

Re: Shameless Plug for sponsorship

well i rode 110 miles in 6 hours on saturday and it only felt like about 60 miles so there is hope.

any way i can't walk more than about 250 meters in my road shoes, i tried it in the Alps when i destroyed a tyre. now where did i leave that 1000cc engine?

Re: Shameless Plug for sponsorship

Great - you'll be able to some extra laps while we sleep a bit during Mountain Mayhem
