SAFETY BRIEFING.

  • Wear a helmet. Despite recent advances in medical science, brains still cannot be mended nor replaced.
  • Wear gloves or mitts. Hands often hit the ground first. Cuts and grazes invite infection and a hospital visit.
  • Wear eye protection, it only takes a twig or thorn to lose an eye. Crud catchers are a good idea in mucky weather.
  • When downhilling, for your own protection, allow plenty of space behind the rider in front.
  • Bring a bare minimum emergency tool kit and a spare inner tube.
  • Breakdowns are a bore. Plan not to have any by ensuring your bike is in perfect working order.
  • Punctures are also tedious. You can minimise them by fitting latex tubes, slime tubes or running tubeless tyres.

Red House Tonight Thurs

Should be out tonight unless the gods conspire otherwise.

Re: Red House Tonight Thurs

Unfortunately work has got in the way again. Should be out next week.

Re: Red House Tonight Thurs

Regrettably, I'm not out either.

I WILL be out next week because I'm leading Thursday's ride. I've been asked whether I'll vary much from the route of the last 2 years, so I'll spend some time tonight planning something dastardly, but not so dastardly I can't ride it myself.

Re: Red House Tonight Thurs

Curses! Found a puncture when I picked the MTB up this morning, and was running late enough already that I ended up just switching to a road bike.

Showing of the new Fiery Beam of DETH will have to wait 'til next week.

Re: Red House Tonight Thurs

Sadly (for me, not you), I'm going to miss tonight's ride. I will, however, be doing an important part of my Mountain Mayhem preparation; namely carbo-loading (again).
See you next week. Have a great ride.

Re: Red House Tonight Thurs

Looks like it's just the three of us then! I'll be out, riding in from Hardwick.

Re: Red House Tonight Thurs

Can't make the start but I'll see you at the pub.

Cheers,

Re: Red House Tonight Thurs

i will be out for a gentle pootle as part of the training plan

Re: Red House Tonight Thurs

I'll be riding to the pub from Hardwick, after the 10TT on the A428 (mad?). In fact, will attempt to change mounts to arrive at Red House on appropriate one. Hope the rain gods are kind tonight.
