SAFETY BRIEFING.

  • Wear a helmet. Despite recent advances in medical science, brains still cannot be mended nor replaced.
  • Wear gloves or mitts. Hands often hit the ground first. Cuts and grazes invite infection and a hospital visit.
  • Wear eye protection, it only takes a twig or thorn to lose an eye. Crud catchers are a good idea in mucky weather.
  • When downhilling, for your own protection, allow plenty of space behind the rider in front.
  • Bring a bare minimum emergency tool kit and a spare inner tube.
  • Breakdowns are a bore. Plan not to have any by ensuring your bike is in perfect working order.
  • Punctures are also tedious. You can minimise them by fitting latex tubes, slime tubes or running tubeless tyres.

Anyone fancy some Dusk till Dawnie????

Ok folks who fancies some d2d on 2/3rd october Thetford, 12hr event. I mentioned to Rob last night and he seems interested! however I would like to get a team of four males or mixed team together or could be done as a team of three, cost is £32 each. Trust me it will be a blast, so if your up for some fun and willing to give it your all, but not to serious then get in touch asap.

Re: Anyone fancy some Dusk till Dawnie????

Hi Shelton,
sorry but i am entered with Paul Lyons so cant ride with you.
i would suggest that a team of 4 is too big a team unless you only want to ride 2 or at best 3 laps. i did that 2 years back and it felt like a wast of time having taken part due to the ammount of time sitting around compaired to racing. my team mates were great but only riding 2 laps in the wettest D2D in many years was a real let down.
each lap is about 1 hour so do the maths 3 riders 4 laps, 2 riders 6 laps, 1 rider (Katie, Duncan) 12 laps....more?
i'm sure you will get 1 or 2 more riders to ride with you. Good luck with the race.

Re: Anyone fancy some Dusk till Dawnie????

Thanks Pat, makes sense looks like ive got my mate John Cobb,he is more use to downhill stuff Like Mega avalanche and is a total nut case and never knows when to quit so Thetford may be a bit tame for him but should be fun.
