SAFETY BRIEFING.

  • Wear a helmet. Despite recent advances in medical science, brains still cannot be mended nor replaced.
  • Wear gloves or mitts. Hands often hit the ground first. Cuts and grazes invite infection and a hospital visit.
  • Wear eye protection, it only takes a twig or thorn to lose an eye. Crud catchers are a good idea in mucky weather.
  • When downhilling, for your own protection, allow plenty of space behind the rider in front.
  • Bring a bare minimum emergency tool kit and a spare inner tube.
  • Breakdowns are a bore. Plan not to have any by ensuring your bike is in perfect working order.
  • Punctures are also tedious. You can minimise them by fitting latex tubes, slime tubes or running tubeless tyres.

Rides next week

Hello all. I'm thinking of joining you next Tuesday or Thursday evening, having never ridden with your group before. I just turn up by the Bento Box by 7.30pm, right?

Anything specifically I should know, assuming I've read all of the forum posts ie. I have a proper off road light, rear light, helmet, tools, tube, waterproofs (ish)? I presume you all take locks with you to lock the bikes at the pub, as well.

If I don't show up it'll be because I didn't manage to escape work in time (I work in London), but hopefully I should be there on one of those days.

Re: Rides next week

Hi Ivan, you pretty much have all you will need, a lock is always a good idea though new riders always buy the group the first round or too so bring some cash, nah only joking but not a bad idea hey fairy coven?. See you soon and have fun with us. Shelton

New Rider Tax

Shelton - excellent idea that, a beer tax on new riders to the group - we should have thought of that ages ago!!!
We should also consider introducing a crash tax - what do you rekon Pete?

Re: New Rider Tax

How about a Birthday Tax this week, eh Rich?

Re: New Rider Tax

I'm all for birthday tax - only fair ...
question is, who wants the responsibility of tax commisioner??
