SAFETY BRIEFING.

  • Wear a helmet. Despite recent advances in medical science, brains still cannot be mended nor replaced.
  • Wear gloves or mitts. Hands often hit the ground first. Cuts and grazes invite infection and a hospital visit.
  • Wear eye protection, it only takes a twig or thorn to lose an eye. Crud catchers are a good idea in mucky weather.
  • When downhilling, for your own protection, allow plenty of space behind the rider in front.
  • Bring a bare minimum emergency tool kit and a spare inner tube.
  • Breakdowns are a bore. Plan not to have any by ensuring your bike is in perfect working order.
  • Punctures are also tedious. You can minimise them by fitting latex tubes, slime tubes or running tubeless tyres.

Re: Arbourial fixing in a Daganum dustbin

Been gazing out of the window looking for signs of a blue sky---------------see you on Thursday--

Re: Arbourial fixing in a Daganum dustbin

Well i'm riding, if anyone else is there all the better.

the forecast did say it would blow over by about 9pm so we could dry out in the pub and then get home before the next round in the morning.

Re: Arbourial fixing in a Daganum dustbin

In the end, Karen made the decision for me - she went shopping and got back too late for me to get ready, even if I could be arsed to cycle in the rain and hope that it blew over by 9 pm!

Hope you had a good ride, Pat.

Regards

TOM

Ivan - Last nights ride

Hi Tom, in my usual "over ambitious" style i took 3 of us on a bit of an epic along the roman road and back, i rode this way about 6 weeks ago, did the extra 5Km muddy bit around Balsham and was back home 35 mins faster against a head wind back to town!
it just goes to show how much of an effect a little bit of rain has on the trails.

Sorry Ivan for you first tast of the trails at a break kneck speed in lovely weather.

i'm just pleased that they didn't turn us away from the pub, as finding one close by, that accepts muddy riders at 10.30pm was not appealing

hope to see you again sometime soon. don't take the above comments as a dig at you because they are not. the trails were very slow going and you did exceptionaly well for a first ride. hope you still feel you enjoyed it now you have had a night to "recover".

here is the URl for last nights ride
