SAFETY BRIEFING.

  • Wear a helmet. Despite recent advances in medical science, brains still cannot be mended nor replaced.
  • Wear gloves or mitts. Hands often hit the ground first. Cuts and grazes invite infection and a hospital visit.
  • Wear eye protection, it only takes a twig or thorn to lose an eye. Crud catchers are a good idea in mucky weather.
  • When downhilling, for your own protection, allow plenty of space behind the rider in front.
  • Bring a bare minimum emergency tool kit and a spare inner tube.
  • Breakdowns are a bore. Plan not to have any by ensuring your bike is in perfect working order.
  • Punctures are also tedious. You can minimise them by fitting latex tubes, slime tubes or running tubeless tyres.

Re: queen's head

I hope to.

If my LED's aren't at home by the time I get back tonight then I will cobble together some lights.

Should still be OK to lend Laura a lamp or two if she can get a battery from Paul.

PT

Re: queen's head

Going to clear me lungs and make an effort !!

Re: queen's head

Hope to be out. Tony

Re: queen's head

I'm planning to park at the pub and cycle in with Bowes. If any one else wants to join us we are aiming to set off from the pub at 18.40. That said, after the inevitable Bowes fannying about and repeat bladder emptying etc. we will probably be departing slightly later than that

Re: queen's head

cool.....the tree at stapleford it is then

Re: I have some spare lights if required

Amazing! can i bagsie them please?!

Queens Head

Hoping to be out tonight. Not very fit so will try to leave home early enough for a gentle ride in. Never happens though.

Certainly - I will bring them in with me (nt)

Re: queen's head

Yep, planning to be out tonight.

Re: Queens Head

See ya at Pub Bowes n Duncan(not the annoying one) For the 18:40 departure.

Re: Queens Head

I plan to be out

Re: queen's head

Looks like I've definitely missed the start, but I'll see if i can make it to the pub for a cheeky pint.

Re: queen's head

Was it just me, or did anyone else find last night's going particularly tough?

Am hoping to fully recover by next thurs, but as for the bike...I think this will need a few bob spending on the transmission

PS What happened to Shelton? - it was a bit quiet in the pub, mate.

Re: queen's head

it was a bit heavy under the wheels at times but I found the hardest part was home from the pub, all alone with a headwind, singlespeed & no-one to draft!!
got home knackered & freezing cold despite working hard!

Re: queen's head

if it makes anyone feel better i feel like i have a hangover, and my legs are complaining like a bugger today.
nothing that 3 hours in a jacizzi and a rub down with a damp edition of MBR wont fix though.

see you all next week for the next round of mud plugging.
