SAFETY BRIEFING.

  • Wear a helmet. Despite recent advances in medical science, brains still cannot be mended nor replaced.
  • Wear gloves or mitts. Hands often hit the ground first. Cuts and grazes invite infection and a hospital visit.
  • Wear eye protection, it only takes a twig or thorn to lose an eye. Crud catchers are a good idea in mucky weather.
  • When downhilling, for your own protection, allow plenty of space behind the rider in front.
  • Bring a bare minimum emergency tool kit and a spare inner tube.
  • Breakdowns are a bore. Plan not to have any by ensuring your bike is in perfect working order.
  • Punctures are also tedious. You can minimise them by fitting latex tubes, slime tubes or running tubeless tyres.

CCC MTB Ride on Sunday 5th June - from Audley End station car park

Peter Vernon from CCC is leading a MTB ride next Sunday ... details below.

-----------------------------

Hi Folks,

I am sending this e-mail to everyone who expressed an interest in MTB on their CCC membership applications.

I shall be leading a Club MTB ride on Sunday 5th June in the Saffron Walden area.
It will start at Audley End station car park at 09.15. There is a train leaving Cambridge at 08.51 which arrives at 09.10. The return fare is £6 and there are no engineering works forecast. Alternatively you can park there for £1 all day.

It will be a 30 mile circular ride at intermediate pace (as I can't go any faster!)
There will be a stop at Clavering for tea & cake and I'll buy you a pint at the pub in wendens ambo at the finish.

I hope you can make it.

Peter Vernon
