SAFETY BRIEFING.

  • Wear a helmet. Despite recent advances in medical science, brains still cannot be mended nor replaced.
  • Wear gloves or mitts. Hands often hit the ground first. Cuts and grazes invite infection and a hospital visit.
  • Wear eye protection, it only takes a twig or thorn to lose an eye. Crud catchers are a good idea in mucky weather.
  • When downhilling, for your own protection, allow plenty of space behind the rider in front.
  • Bring a bare minimum emergency tool kit and a spare inner tube.
  • Breakdowns are a bore. Plan not to have any by ensuring your bike is in perfect working order.
  • Punctures are also tedious. You can minimise them by fitting latex tubes, slime tubes or running tubeless tyres.

Chilly last night

Good ride last night, and the scratchings in the Queen's Head were Cambridgeshire's best.

Chapeau for the ride back home after the pub to Tony (who came in his shorts) and Pete - shortly after I passed them in the heated-seat comfort of my car, my temperature reading was 1C. Brrrrrr!

Thanks for the honourable mention Dom. I would like to point out that I was in fact wearing my shorts. They were (largely) unsoiled.

Re: Chilly last night

Nice imagery there, Tony, although I applaud you for picking up on the double-entendre set out by Dom.

Did you guys go to the obelisk on the way back? Surely a done deal with Pete there.

Pat, Alex and I considered the folly of such a move, but did it anyway.
