SAFETY BRIEFING.

  • Wear a helmet. Despite recent advances in medical science, brains still cannot be mended nor replaced.
  • Wear gloves or mitts. Hands often hit the ground first. Cuts and grazes invite infection and a hospital visit.
  • Wear eye protection, it only takes a twig or thorn to lose an eye. Crud catchers are a good idea in mucky weather.
  • When downhilling, for your own protection, allow plenty of space behind the rider in front.
  • Bring a bare minimum emergency tool kit and a spare inner tube.
  • Breakdowns are a bore. Plan not to have any by ensuring your bike is in perfect working order.
  • Punctures are also tedious. You can minimise them by fitting latex tubes, slime tubes or running tubeless tyres.

White Horse, Oakington

Looks like a nice evening - forecast is dry, warm and humid.

Anyone out for a trot to the Horse?

PT

Re: White Horse, Oakington

I plan to be out.

Tony

Re: White Horse, Oakington

Assuming the gods are kind , I shall be out. Toss up re mud/summer tyres.....

Re: White Horse, Oakington

I'm planning to be out tonight, parking car at pub

Re: White Horse, Oakington

i'm out, using summer tyres, can't be assed to swap them.

Re: White Horse, Oakington

I might pootle to the pub to join you for a swift half later, possibly on my r**d bike.
On a point of pedantry Pasty, can it really be both dry and humid?
I trust that one of you Northerners has established that the pub is still trading, so as to avoid a repeat of the Cottenham debacle of a few weeks ago

Re: White Horse, Oakington

Batting tonight near Saffron Walden. Summer tyres should be fine if Tuesday was anything to go by. Pete will you be displaying shaven legs?

Re: White Horse, Oakington

thanks Dunc. Summers are on. shaven legs. These days they are self shaving, havent found out why but guess baldness might be a clue!

Re: White Horse, Oakington

I shall return the pedantry by saying that, yes, it can be both dry (precipitation-free) and humid (implying an increase in the water vapour in the air without it necessarily dropping out).
