SAFETY BRIEFING.

  • Wear a helmet. Despite recent advances in medical science, brains still cannot be mended nor replaced.
  • Wear gloves or mitts. Hands often hit the ground first. Cuts and grazes invite infection and a hospital visit.
  • Wear eye protection, it only takes a twig or thorn to lose an eye. Crud catchers are a good idea in mucky weather.
  • When downhilling, for your own protection, allow plenty of space behind the rider in front.
  • Bring a bare minimum emergency tool kit and a spare inner tube.
  • Breakdowns are a bore. Plan not to have any by ensuring your bike is in perfect working order.
  • Punctures are also tedious. You can minimise them by fitting latex tubes, slime tubes or running tubeless tyres.

little Geordynige

Dear all,
Just to let you know that little Archie George was born on Sept 6th. Mummy & baby are doing great & Daddy is already dreaming of those heady days when he could race his mountain bike!! Thanks to all who forced me to have a beer on my final Tues ride as it could be a little while before I have another!!!

If anyone is interested in what the little dude looks like drop me a line & ill send you a piccie.

He has good strong legs & I'm already eying him up for a 2030 Olympics appearance!!0

Cheers Geordynige :)

Re: little Geordynige

Excellent news Team Geordienige! Congratulations all.

Maybe you should do Dusk til Dawn as you will be up anyway?

Re: little Geordynige

congrats guys.
i see you have similar thoughts/delusions as i did when Connor was born.
good luck with sticking to that.

hope to see you out again...sometime.....i would say soon but priorities change and all that.

if you can keep riding regularly as you will loose all that fitness in no time, i took "a year off" from racing, here i am 18 months on and i'm now only begining to think how i can start to build up the fitness to race again.....probably take another 12 to 18 months before i will be any good if i start now.

well enough about me congrats again to you all, i'll shout you a drink next time we are out.

Re: little Geordynige

Congratulations Nige,

I can't add any more advice to that above except that becoming nocturnal does have it's merits. You get to watch Adult Preview, for example.

Send me a photo and we can make little Archie the forum photo.

Cheers

TOM

Re: little Geordynige

Congratulations Nige

Hopefully see you back out on the trails before the end of the decade!

Re: little Geordynige

Congratulations Geordynige! I concur, hope you're out before your boy is big enough to ride a bike himself!

Re: little Geordynige

Many congrats to you all. Hope to see you soon. Don't forget, it's traditional for a first son to buy his Daddy a REALLY EXPENSIVE mountain bike as a thank you for dedicating the next 18 years to him...

Re: little Geordynige

Hey Nige

Awesome! Glad everything and everyone are well. Hope you don't let Archie take on any namby-pamby southern ways or get a ridiculous accent!

All the best
Dom & Alison

Re: little Geordynige

Congratulations Nige (and Mrs Nige). Hope to see you out and about soon. Kids grow up so fast these days, you should be back on the trails in the next 16 years or so.
