SAFETY BRIEFING.

  • Wear a helmet. Despite recent advances in medical science, brains still cannot be mended nor replaced.
  • Wear gloves or mitts. Hands often hit the ground first. Cuts and grazes invite infection and a hospital visit.
  • Wear eye protection, it only takes a twig or thorn to lose an eye. Crud catchers are a good idea in mucky weather.
  • When downhilling, for your own protection, allow plenty of space behind the rider in front.
  • Bring a bare minimum emergency tool kit and a spare inner tube.
  • Breakdowns are a bore. Plan not to have any by ensuring your bike is in perfect working order.
  • Punctures are also tedious. You can minimise them by fitting latex tubes, slime tubes or running tubeless tyres.

Hairy Hoonds?

At this late stage and still no-one's posted!

Anyone thinking of going out tonight? It IS a bit chilly and a bit damp, but on the plus side it's not forecast to rain - or snow, come to that! It might even still be frozen enough from last night that the ground is a bit hard instead of muddy. Wait a minute, what am I saying? That's never going to happen...

If I go out, I'm not going west any more than I can help. I've got in mind Addenbrookes Babraham Sawston Newton Hauxton Harlton. Would be about 22 miles round trip Cambridge to Cambridge. It's not VERY off-road, but given the cold and mud, it'll do me!

Re: Hairy Hoonds?

I'm planning on riding.

I'm happy to avoid the mud fest out west as much as possible as well.

Re: Hairy Hoonds?
