SAFETY BRIEFING.

  • Wear a helmet. Despite recent advances in medical science, brains still cannot be mended nor replaced.
  • Wear gloves or mitts. Hands often hit the ground first. Cuts and grazes invite infection and a hospital visit.
  • Wear eye protection, it only takes a twig or thorn to lose an eye. Crud catchers are a good idea in mucky weather.
  • When downhilling, for your own protection, allow plenty of space behind the rider in front.
  • Bring a bare minimum emergency tool kit and a spare inner tube.
  • Breakdowns are a bore. Plan not to have any by ensuring your bike is in perfect working order.
  • Punctures are also tedious. You can minimise them by fitting latex tubes, slime tubes or running tubeless tyres.

Having Fecund thoughts

Enough of how I spend my time at work.

It's Fecund frolic time on Tuesday, so start thinking about your partners and get lubed up. The destination pub will be announced on Tuesday and the checkpoints will be posted here a day or so before. As usual there will be points available for visiting checkpoints as well as for randomly selected photographs and activities of a cycling and non-cycling nature. Speed isn't everything though it might help. Navigation definitely helps - shame Dom's crocked - and a golf umbrella may be useful.

There really will be prizes for the winning team (ahem Dr Paul) and for all those who are lactose, gluten, alcohol or just plain intolerant I will take your conditions into account and just buy something.

Re: Having Fecund thoughts

Will the prizes be GM free?
Will the prizes include the additional gift of all you can drink at a suitably endorsed establishment?
