SAFETY BRIEFING.

  • Wear a helmet. Despite recent advances in medical science, brains still cannot be mended nor replaced.
  • Wear gloves or mitts. Hands often hit the ground first. Cuts and grazes invite infection and a hospital visit.
  • Wear eye protection, it only takes a twig or thorn to lose an eye. Crud catchers are a good idea in mucky weather.
  • When downhilling, for your own protection, allow plenty of space behind the rider in front.
  • Bring a bare minimum emergency tool kit and a spare inner tube.
  • Breakdowns are a bore. Plan not to have any by ensuring your bike is in perfect working order.
  • Punctures are also tedious. You can minimise them by fitting latex tubes, slime tubes or running tubeless tyres.

Something for May Day weekend

Pedal Norfolk

Looks like it could be a good event.

Dr Paul, Tallack & I are heading for this

Right then, where did I put those knees?

Re: Something for May Day weekend

Actually, Tallack is heading for the Forest of Dean, as he didn't get any response from the SSUKG, even when he tried to pay via PayPal :-(

However, I know the Pedal Norfolk event is going to be fantastic (it's sponsored by Adnams for a start). The organisers have put tons of effort in to ensure great rides each day, but more importantly, loads to do outside of the riding, especially for non-riders/family members/kids, etc.
It's not cheap, but you'll certainly get plenty of value. Even the food is being laid on by top local chefs, rather than bog-standard caterers. Set in beautiful surroundings too.

Also, there's a big 'trade' area, including the GoPro Demonstrator and loads more.

BTW, Madison isn't heavily involved, in case you were wondering...
