SAFETY BRIEFING.

  • Wear a helmet. Despite recent advances in medical science, brains still cannot be mended nor replaced.
  • Wear gloves or mitts. Hands often hit the ground first. Cuts and grazes invite infection and a hospital visit.
  • Wear eye protection, it only takes a twig or thorn to lose an eye. Crud catchers are a good idea in mucky weather.
  • When downhilling, for your own protection, allow plenty of space behind the rider in front.
  • Bring a bare minimum emergency tool kit and a spare inner tube.
  • Breakdowns are a bore. Plan not to have any by ensuring your bike is in perfect working order.
  • Punctures are also tedious. You can minimise them by fitting latex tubes, slime tubes or running tubeless tyres.

Over to you

Anyone planning to a Dom for this event?

Despite the potential of a moderate tailwind home, an early start tomorrow dictates parking at the Community Centre, or nearby. Just need our guide for the night to advise what time we need to leave

Re: Over to you

Hi Pete,

I will be leaving at 18:35 from the Community Centre car park - i.e. I will meet you there and we can ride in together.

For those also "doing a Dom" (perhaps including Dom) the Community Centre is just off The Doles (West) and is signposted from Station Road. If arriving from Swavesey you just drive straight on when you enter Over and you'll be in Station Road.

If arriving from Longstanton, keep straight ahead (the road name changes from Longstanton Rd to West St to New Rd) and turn right at the T-junction into Station Road. The Doles is on the right.

See you there or at Brookside!

Re: Over to you

Should be out. Without the mud tyres because it will be dry and dusty and I'll be home too late to change them.

Re: Over to you

Any idea on the route Tom? I may pick you up part way round...

Cheers,
BigCam - who also has summer tyres on...

Re: Over to you

Despite the lack of seasonal weather, I plan on venturing out. My mate Stuart should be joining us too. No doubt he'll turn up a bit late, as usual.

Re: Over to you

Hi Cam,

Wimpole Way to Hardwick, Blue Bridge to Dry Drayton, Bar Hill, Lolworth, Boxworth, Swavesey. Over.

See you there!

Tom
