SAFETY BRIEFING.

  • Wear a helmet. Despite recent advances in medical science, brains still cannot be mended nor replaced.
  • Wear gloves or mitts. Hands often hit the ground first. Cuts and grazes invite infection and a hospital visit.
  • Wear eye protection, it only takes a twig or thorn to lose an eye. Crud catchers are a good idea in mucky weather.
  • When downhilling, for your own protection, allow plenty of space behind the rider in front.
  • Bring a bare minimum emergency tool kit and a spare inner tube.
  • Breakdowns are a bore. Plan not to have any by ensuring your bike is in perfect working order.
  • Punctures are also tedious. You can minimise them by fitting latex tubes, slime tubes or running tubeless tyres.

new boy - best place to buy a mtb?

Hello all, we recently moved into Cambridge and I hope to be able to join one of your rides very soon - as soon as I have bought a bike! Any suggestions of shops I should go to for advice etc. I have done quite a bit of riding on a K2 dual suspension (26") in South Africa so would ideally like something similar... Thank you! Tim.

Re: new boy - best place to buy a mtb?

It's a good time of year to buy. Do alot of homework work out how much you want to spend, get a short list, ask some advice, try a few bikes mandate your decision and strike a deal..... Or buy something really nice 2nd hand. Round here you can test ride at Graffham cycles, towns ends light blue, station cues etc.
K2..... Was that a relaxed Pro flex ?
