SAFETY BRIEFING.

  • Wear a helmet. Despite recent advances in medical science, brains still cannot be mended nor replaced.
  • Wear gloves or mitts. Hands often hit the ground first. Cuts and grazes invite infection and a hospital visit.
  • Wear eye protection, it only takes a twig or thorn to lose an eye. Crud catchers are a good idea in mucky weather.
  • When downhilling, for your own protection, allow plenty of space behind the rider in front.
  • Bring a bare minimum emergency tool kit and a spare inner tube.
  • Breakdowns are a bore. Plan not to have any by ensuring your bike is in perfect working order.
  • Punctures are also tedious. You can minimise them by fitting latex tubes, slime tubes or running tubeless tyres.

Aldi bike stuff tomorrow! (Thurs 26th)

For anyone who fancies some affordable bike stuff...
https://www.aldi.co.uk/en/specialbuys/thursday-26th-september/

Re: Aldi bike stuff tomorrow! (Thurs 26th)

How does it work, do you just show up in one of the ALDI shops during the day tomorrow or is it an on-line offer?

A merino base layer top/bottom for that price could be worth a try.

Re: Aldi bike stuff tomorrow! (Thurs 26th)

You need to turn up at a shop. The one in Cambridge is on Histon Road.

Stock is usually limited so get there early to avoid disappointment!

Re: Aldi bike stuff tomorrow! (Thurs 26th)

Sod that, next week the've got electric paddle mixers & circular saws mmmmmmmm!!

Anyone newbie or old who is in the market for some very cheap/free cycle clothes, winter tights, goretex, lights, shoes, jerseys, loads of stuff, helmet, free tyres etc etc
We've got some French exchange people coming at the end of October, it's clogging up the spare room & garage & I would like (in fact been told) to get rid of it all

Re: Aldi bike stuff tomorrow! (Thurs 26th)

Just been and got a load of stuff, there was still quite a lot there. Got a toolkit that looks good, quite compact and handy for throwing in the car when going away

Re: Aldi bike stuff tomorrow! (Thurs 26th)

i like the look of the base layer.
last time i went to one of these events i was there too soon and the stuff had not made it out on to the floor.
thanks for the update Claire, i may swing past after work and see what is left that has not been trampled in the stampeed.
