SAFETY BRIEFING.

  • Wear a helmet. Despite recent advances in medical science, brains still cannot be mended nor replaced.
  • Wear gloves or mitts. Hands often hit the ground first. Cuts and grazes invite infection and a hospital visit.
  • Wear eye protection, it only takes a twig or thorn to lose an eye. Crud catchers are a good idea in mucky weather.
  • When downhilling, for your own protection, allow plenty of space behind the rider in front.
  • Bring a bare minimum emergency tool kit and a spare inner tube.
  • Breakdowns are a bore. Plan not to have any by ensuring your bike is in perfect working order.
  • Punctures are also tedious. You can minimise them by fitting latex tubes, slime tubes or running tubeless tyres.
  • Don't ride too close to the person in front. If they crash into a badger, you'll need time to swerve.

Plough & Fleece, Horningsea

Anyone planning to ride this evening?

Re: Plough & Fleece, Horningsea

Hi Jon,

Pasty and I have an outline plan for a road ride to the Fleece. All being well we should see you at the Start.

Re: Plough & Fleece, Horningsea

It looks damp (or more damp than usual) at present. Will there be much roading involved, or are the trails out that way still passable?

Re: Plough & Fleece, Horningsea

Planning to ride tonight but haven't been out for ages so no idea what it's like on the trails round my neck of the woods. Forecast looks OK.

Re: Plough & Fleece, Horningsea

At the risk of being labelled a Roadie (as per Tony's recent posting on Tribes), I will be roading it to the pub this evening with Pete.

That's more of a recovery thing rather than a reaction to the muddy, crappy trails. But it does help with having a cleaner bike afterwards.

Re: Plough & Fleece, Horningsea

Planning on doing the mud version of Cam Road Club (note we're not a club)if anyone is going under 40 psi?

Re: Plough & Fleece, Horningsea

Not to night Josephine, spent this morning been violated by 400mm of endoscopy equipment... Still
Feeling PTSD anf struggling to breath so I think I will aim for Tuesday
Note to self...... Next time take the sedation option...... That!

Re: Plough & Fleece, Horningsea

i am intending to be out, but recovering form a bad cold so will be acting like a complete roadie (as per Tony's Tribes) post.
i'm going for the full mud option with tyres at 42PSI.

Re: Plough & Fleece, Horningsea

Not here, so won't be out. Instead I shall be goading people in the National Gallery.

Squeal like a pig, boy.

Re: Plough & Fleece, Horningsea

:-) Sounds like a good plan Tony!

I don't think I'll be able to make it tonight -- work happened.

Re: Plough & Fleece, Horningsea

Not going to make it after all but will see you at the Fleece later.

Sorry not to have made it out.

The Gods of the A14 and parenting were against me.
