SAFETY BRIEFING.

  • Wear a helmet. Despite recent advances in medical science, brains still cannot be mended nor replaced.
  • Wear gloves or mitts. Hands often hit the ground first. Cuts and grazes invite infection and a hospital visit.
  • Wear eye protection, it only takes a twig or thorn to lose an eye. Crud catchers are a good idea in mucky weather.
  • When downhilling, for your own protection, allow plenty of space behind the rider in front.
  • Bring a bare minimum emergency tool kit and a spare inner tube.
  • Breakdowns are a bore. Plan not to have any by ensuring your bike is in perfect working order.
  • Punctures are also tedious. You can minimise them by fitting latex tubes, slime tubes or running tubeless tyres.

New Award Category

Hi All,

I've already started thinking of this year's CAMMTB Awards. It occurred to me that we ought to have an award for the excuse for not riding posted from the most exotic location.

Front runners have to be Tony and Paul L. Who can forget those posts in Australia from Paul while the hapless Rich tried to track him down? What about those "Sorry, I won't be out because I'm in (enter European capital of your own choice here)" excuses from Tony?

Unless you can out-do them......

Re: New Award Category

I won't be able to nominate anyone next week as I'll be in Germany.

Re: New Award Category

Can the winner call in and accept his award remotely? :-)

This is where people like Richard Mills, G, Wendy, Luke and Anna can still feature...

Could there also be a "oh, sorry, I'm on my bike in " category, for which photos would have to be posted? If that was a category last year, I could have sent in some Moab pics. No doubt there'd be some Luchon pics there...
