SAFETY BRIEFING.

  • Wear a helmet. Despite recent advances in medical science, brains still cannot be mended nor replaced.
  • Wear gloves or mitts. Hands often hit the ground first. Cuts and grazes invite infection and a hospital visit.
  • Wear eye protection, it only takes a twig or thorn to lose an eye. Crud catchers are a good idea in mucky weather.
  • When downhilling, for your own protection, allow plenty of space behind the rider in front.
  • Bring a bare minimum emergency tool kit and a spare inner tube.
  • Breakdowns are a bore. Plan not to have any by ensuring your bike is in perfect working order.
  • Punctures are also tedious. You can minimise them by fitting latex tubes, slime tubes or running tubeless tyres.

Visiting Cambridge

Hello - I will be visiting Cambridge for 2 weeks of study starting 3 April from New York. I mountain bike regularly and want to do so while in the UK. If possible I'd love to ride with your group. Can you suggest a local shop to rent an appropriate bike?

Re: Visiting Cambridge

Hi Rich.

Yep, come and join us :)

There are several places, this one does mountain bikes. Bear in mind we do not have many hills so most of the riding is smooth undulating single and double track. They do not have suspension but you won't need it. (some of us ride rigid single speed)

Re: Visiting Cambridge

also bear in mind we ride mostly in the dark at this time of year.

if you post ahead of time someone is likly to be out who will have a spare set of lights and even charge them up for you.
