SAFETY BRIEFING.

  • Wear a helmet. Despite recent advances in medical science, brains still cannot be mended nor replaced.
  • Wear gloves or mitts. Hands often hit the ground first. Cuts and grazes invite infection and a hospital visit.
  • Wear eye protection, it only takes a twig or thorn to lose an eye. Crud catchers are a good idea in mucky weather.
  • When downhilling, for your own protection, allow plenty of space behind the rider in front.
  • Bring a bare minimum emergency tool kit and a spare inner tube.
  • Breakdowns are a bore. Plan not to have any by ensuring your bike is in perfect working order.
  • Punctures are also tedious. You can minimise them by fitting latex tubes, slime tubes or running tubeless tyres.

bike ride at Thetford Forest

Hi, I am looking for female company to go around the MTB trails at Thetford Forest. I went around with my boyfriend a week ago and loved it and I am keen to go again soon. I liked the red Beater trail the most although I did go on the more advanced red trail but didn't go on the black features.

I can go most days except Wednesday and Thursday. If you are interested but would like to know a little more about me before you commit yourself to spending a day with a complete stranger please give me an email!

Melanie

Re: bike ride at Thetford Forest

Hi Mel

Although there are not many women in the CAMTB though there are one or two but they just generally ride with the rest of the group rather than as a separate woman's group. You and your boyfriend would be more than welcome out on the trails around Cambridge and although that might sound very tame compared to Thetford I can assure you there are some challenging routes that they do, some of which I struggle with myself.

Please do consider joining the group for a ride out, its very safe in numbers and most of the group don't mind waiting if you are a little slower than the main group and will ensure you don't get lost :) By the same token, if you are fast, there are those that like the faster pace too

I do hope you both consider turning up one evening and at least giving it a try :)
