SAFETY BRIEFING.

  • Wear a helmet. Despite recent advances in medical science, brains still cannot be mended nor replaced.
  • Wear gloves or mitts. Hands often hit the ground first. Cuts and grazes invite infection and a hospital visit.
  • Wear eye protection, it only takes a twig or thorn to lose an eye. Crud catchers are a good idea in mucky weather.
  • When downhilling, for your own protection, allow plenty of space behind the rider in front.
  • Bring a bare minimum emergency tool kit and a spare inner tube.
  • Breakdowns are a bore. Plan not to have any by ensuring your bike is in perfect working order.
  • Punctures are also tedious. You can minimise them by fitting latex tubes, slime tubes or running tubeless tyres.

Tour of the cornfields - anyone else?

Hi.

100 km this Sunday? I am signed up - anyone else from what this group?

https://beastwaymtb.wordpress.com/cornfields/

Wonderful

Re: Tour of the cornfields - anyone else?

Hi Adrian
Yes. I'm doing the 100k, thought it would be good practice for 23rd sept. The riding tat is, I doubt there will be any ale on the cornfields ride. See you there. I will ride out from home ) off road of course

Re: Tour of the cornfields - anyone else?

Phew, that was harder than I thought it would be. 72 miles on that Zesty and no beer whatsoever consumed en route. Trust me to hook up with a serious bunch.

Oh well, its no doubt been good practice for the much vaunted Fenduro later this month...........

Re: Tour of the cornfields - anyone else?

Really enjoyed that, the 50 was nice to do with Tess and Duncano's Garmin Oregon kept us on course. Also bumped into Jeremy who will be returning for this year's Fenduro.

Not sure if cornfields was useful as prep - it was well organized and executed. Fenduro certainly won't be!

May consider leading a repeat of the 50 route one summer evening next year.

Re: Tour of the cornfields - anyone else?

or you could try setting up one of these ;)

Re: Tour of the cornfields - anyone else?

Been thinking of giving cycle speedway a go for a few years now - there are a few clubs not too far (ipswich has one I think). Would maybe be better suited for our landscape
