SAFETY BRIEFING.

  • Wear a helmet. Despite recent advances in medical science, brains still cannot be mended nor replaced.
  • Wear gloves or mitts. Hands often hit the ground first. Cuts and grazes invite infection and a hospital visit.
  • Wear eye protection, it only takes a twig or thorn to lose an eye. Crud catchers are a good idea in mucky weather.
  • When downhilling, for your own protection, allow plenty of space behind the rider in front.
  • Bring a bare minimum emergency tool kit and a spare inner tube.
  • Breakdowns are a bore. Plan not to have any by ensuring your bike is in perfect working order.
  • Punctures are also tedious. You can minimise them by fitting latex tubes, slime tubes or running tubeless tyres.

Am looking to join a ride

Am looking to join a ride with you guys if your still running rides?

Re: Am looking to join a ride

Hi Mr Andrew

The rides still run, a bit of a summer lull due to holidays and this strange kind of liquid falling from the sky. I think we all got a bit too Mediterranean through June and July. I think thursdays are the better attended rides atm but I wouldn't know as I have been skiving.

Re: Am looking to join a ride

i'm intending to ride tonight, no one else has posted yet so could be a quiet one.

i will be taking it easy as i'm racing on sunday and dont want to risk an injury, but should be riding regularly on thursdays from now on......work permitting.

on that note, Helmets are NOT compulsory as this is not a club or society, but a group of like minded inderviduals riding their bikes and having some fun.

that said i refere you to the safety briefing at the top of the page, it is toung in cheek, but common scense realy.
although we are in the "fens" there have been several accidents over the years that have required hospital intervention and without the corect safety gear could have been a LOT worse.

hope to see you out sometime.

Re: Am looking to join a ride

Turn up, introduce yourself and enjoy the ride.

If you want anyone to translate Pat's post into English we'll be happy to help.

Re: Am looking to join a ride

normal service has been resumed.

constant piss taking about not using a spell checker or grammer checker .... pedants!

i would have expected that poke from Tom, but you Tony... i thought you were better than that ;)

Re: Am looking to join a ride

I rode last night.

I did take it easy (sometimes) as I’m racing on Sunday and didn’t want to risk an injury but should be riding regularly on Thursdays from now on......work permitting.
After the piss taking continued on the ride over this post I have decided to correct it for spelling and grammar today.

on that note, Helmets are NOT compulsory as this is not a club or society, but a group of likeminded individuals riding their bikes and having some fun.

hope to see you out sometime Andrew, oh and bring a sense of humour, this lot are a right laugh when they get going.
