SAFETY BRIEFING.

Wear a helmet. Despite recent advances in medical science, brains still cannot be mended nor replaced.
Wear gloves or mitts. Hands often hit the ground first. Cuts and grazes invite infection and a hospital visit.
Wear eye protection, it only takes a twig or thorn to lose an eye. Crud catchers are a good idea in mucky weather.
When downhilling, for your own protection, allow plenty of space behind the rider in front.
Bring a bare minimum emergency tool kit and a spare inner tube.
Breakdowns are a bore. Plan not to have any by ensuring your bike is in perfect working order.
Punctures are also tedious. You can minimise them by fitting latex tubes, slime tubes or running tubeless tyres.

It really won't be Over 'til it's Over

Afternoon All,

The forecast is for any scattered showers this afternoon to have abated by the time we get going this evening, so it looks like a dry and sunny run.

Given the recent weather and consequent growth in puddles and wild plants, I'm going for a more traditional route up toward Conington then cutting across to Fenstanton. If we make good progress, I will reward you with a chance to RIDE THE CHUTE and take in some of my usual Sunday morning off-road bushwhacking.

The pub stop is the Community Centre in Over (16 The Doles, Over, Cambridge CB24 5NW). If you also fancy parking there and doing the ride in with me, post here in good time.

One thing is for sure and that the beer will be CHEAP so you can glug down a reasonable few for the inevitable chain-gang down the Busway back to Cambridge.

What time are you leaving Over? I am planning doing a Dom. Cant ride very far or fast at mo.

Hi Pete,

I'm planning to leave by 18:30 - that leaves plenty of time for punctures on the way to Cambridge. It's usually a 50 minute journey.
