SAFETY BRIEFING.

  • Wear a helmet. Despite recent advances in medical science, brains still cannot be mended nor replaced.
  • Wear gloves or mitts. Hands often hit the ground first. Cuts and grazes invite infection and a hospital visit.
  • Wear eye protection, it only takes a twig or thorn to lose an eye. Crud catchers are a good idea in mucky weather.
  • When downhilling, for your own protection, allow plenty of space behind the rider in front.
  • Bring a bare minimum emergency tool kit and a spare inner tube.
  • Breakdowns are a bore. Plan not to have any by ensuring your bike is in perfect working order.
  • Punctures are also tedious. You can minimise them by fitting latex tubes, slime tubes or running tubeless tyres.

Thursday early warning

Pubs are open for indoor service!! But not the Hare and Hounds, they're apparently not opening until the following week.

Any other suggestions for somewhere warm and dry with good beer as opposed to the recent offerings of cold, rainy and warm beer?

Re: Thursday early warning

Good call Tony.
I don't really mind where we end up, if their brewer has not passed them by again like last time the White Swan in Conington would be OK I guess?

Re: Thursday early warning

I'd be up for The White Swan, but that said, i'd be up for anywhere !

Re: Thursday early warning

I was in the white swan at Conington yesterday lunchtime and had two pints of very pleasant ghost ship . So a yes for Conington from me

Re: Thursday early warning

I also vote for the White Swan, I was there on Sunday lunchtime and tested their Ghost Ship too.

I have route in mind, if you'll indulge me.

Will cycle in to Brookside.

PT

Re: Thursday early warning

I have a telephone GP appt at 7pm. I expect it to a) start late and b) be over in about 5 mins.

I should be able to make it for 7:30, but I might have to meet you somewhere. It sounds like Pasty's route might head west, which would suit me !
