SAFETY BRIEFING.

  • Wear a helmet. Despite recent advances in medical science, brains still cannot be mended nor replaced.
  • Wear gloves or mitts. Hands often hit the ground first. Cuts and grazes invite infection and a hospital visit.
  • Wear eye protection, it only takes a twig or thorn to lose an eye. Crud catchers are a good idea in mucky weather.
  • When downhilling, for your own protection, allow plenty of space behind the rider in front.
  • Bring a bare minimum emergency tool kit and a spare inner tube.
  • Breakdowns are a bore. Plan not to have any by ensuring your bike is in perfect working order.
  • Punctures are also tedious. You can minimise them by fitting latex tubes, slime tubes or running tubeless tyres.

Re: Eltisley or not?

I’m planning on riding this evening. Happy to go to Eltisley or elsewhere if that is the consensus.

Re: Eltisley or not?

I’m out too.
Eltisley is fine with me. Or anywhere else too.

Re: Eltisley or not?

I'm planning to be out. Would prefere to try the Eltisley, but happy with Hare & Hounds if that's offered!

Re: Eltisley or not?

35 miles is probably too much for me so will go on a shorter one e.g. Hare and Hounds.

I will be there at 7.30 to wish you heroes Bon voyage and do a shorter ride alone or with company.

Re: Eltisley or not?

Good choice to go shorter Tom.
35miles would be a slight under estimate.
When I got home I was just on 47miles.
We got to the pub at 10pm, left it at 10:20pm and I got home at midnight.
It was one of the toughest rides I’ve had to endure.
Paul did a good job leading the ride and thanks for not leaving me even after I suggested it several times.

Re: Eltisley or not?

I looked up Toms route and it is 35 miles, I think you must have taken a bit of a "flowery" route:blossom:
