SAFETY BRIEFING.

  • Wear a helmet. Despite recent advances in medical science, brains still cannot be mended nor replaced.
  • Wear gloves or mitts. Hands often hit the ground first. Cuts and grazes invite infection and a hospital visit.
  • Wear eye protection, it only takes a twig or thorn to lose an eye. Crud catchers are a good idea in mucky weather.
  • When downhilling, for your own protection, allow plenty of space behind the rider in front.
  • Bring a bare minimum emergency tool kit and a spare inner tube.
  • Breakdowns are a bore. Plan not to have any by ensuring your bike is in perfect working order.
  • Punctures are also tedious. You can minimise them by fitting latex tubes, slime tubes or running tubeless tyres.

Thursday night

Happy New Year one and all

I see Thetford is on the Runs list for today - don't think I'll make that. Anyone up for a local ride?

Any suggestions for a pub? Blue Ball? Plough at Fen Ditton?

Re: Thursday night

I think i'm much more likely to be up for a local ride tonight. And probably one that's not too pacy. I had a touch of explosive gastroenteritis following the "All-Inclusive Buffet" in The Canaries at Christmas and, while i'm fine as far as the shits n' pukes go (and I think therefore not contagious!), i'm still a bit week. I've also done F' all biking over Christmas, so feeling unfit :grimacing:

Re: Thursday night

Sounds good to me. Not the explosive gastroenteritis bit. I just saw my bike. Untouched since the Xmas do and looking a little sad....

Re: Thursday night

Explosive gastro sounds horrendous, Norman, especially after eating a canary. Must have been 'fowl' smelling, sticky feathers everywhere.

I shall be out tonight. My 29'er has proper winter tyres on it now so may as well be used.

Re: Thursday night

Where to then ?

Re: Thursday night

Red Lion Grantchester and Plough at Fen Ditton both open until 10. Brewers in Milton apparently open to 11.00

Any other thoughts?

Re: Thursday night

Not out tonight due to my body taking part in Day seven of a serious bit of Manthrax. Hope to be out next week (if I'm still breathing)
Have a nice evening Gents!
Fucks sake Norm...50??, wouldn't of wanted your paper round:worried:

Re: Thursday night

My paper round was a fecker - Especially on Weds, when I did free papers afterwards as well.

Re: Thursday night

closing at 10 is OK....but this limits us to about 90-105 mins of riding realistically (i.e. 9 - 9:15 in the pub)

Re: Thursday night

Coton's website says 11....

Re: Thursday night

Phone Poll Results, straight from the horse's mouth:

- Brewers Milton = Depends on who's here. Offically 11:30, but we closed last night at 8:30 coz no-one was here
- Coton = About 10.
- Red Lion Histon = 11.

Re: Thursday night

Aiming to join yer'all tonight
