I'm not sure how frequently this website is now visited, but on the off-chance that veterans and / or their families may see this message, I wanted to introduce myself as a PhD student from the University of Southampton, researching the experiences of young soldiers who served in either the 6th Airborne or 1st Infantry Divisions in Palestine between 1945 and 1948.

I'm currently trying to access personal papers (e.g. letters, diaries, memoirs and photographs) of British servicemen who served during the Mandate in this period, to try and help understand what they experienced when they reached Palestine and how this may have changed their views about the situation and the local people they encountered.
