Re: No Subject

One of the highlights of our first trip to Gambia this year was a visit to Jula's bar for a barbeque. It's half way between the beach at Kotu and Kololi, and you can walk across the beach to it in the day, but it the evening it's more difficult as the river is quite high when the tide is in.The bbq's are held every Sunday, and you pay a small deposit in advance. It's a tiny bar with no electricity, but that evening was magic. Brilliant drumming, dancing, fire eating, the big black African sky all around us. There was only room for about fourteen guests or so, and the dancers and drummers almost outnumbered us. I was a bit worried about going to such a lonely place, but our mini bus driver, Tijan, Tel:462969 Mobile: 934617 took us to the nearest parking space (I think it was near the Palma Riva) and walked us across the beach, stayed with us, and then drove us back. There were six of us, ages ranging from sixteen to fifty two, and we all had a night to remember always. The bbq was delicious, too, and plenty of it!
