Re: Rainbow Bar Kololi circa 1991

This area has changed dramatically over the last few years.

The Kairaba Hotel now has an oppulent new entrance arch and there is a new supermarket and range of shops there.

The (new) craft market is now the old Craft market and is no longer there at all, having moved to the top of the road where a new highway now takes people directly to the airport or to destinations down the coast, where this new road now goes all the way to Gunjur.

The Taxi park by the old craft market adjacent to the Tafbel Hotel, is now closed and is due for re-development, all sorts of rumours abound and I have no definite information on what will finally be there.

The roads here are now wide and tarmaced, right down to the Bijilo Forest or Monkey Park which is doing much more business now with the new road.

The Badala Beach bar used to have great nights on a Friday, with drumming, Dancing and Fire eaters - All gone as have many of the other Beach Bars that gave the place a special character. It still has character but a different character.

The GTS Bar/Restaurant and Office is currently the very last place on the left along the Bijilo road, I say currently because with so much development things change monthly.

AND 'The Rainbow Bar' no longer exists in the area - It sounds as if you really need to visit again.

Lived in the Gambia 10 years ago anyone know the Kololi area then and now, wonder what happened to the Rainbow Bar just outside the Senegambia Hotel, next to the new (then) craft market
